Carob comes from the pod of a tree that grows along the Mediterranean. This pod contains a sweet pulp, which is then dried, roasted and ground into powder. Carob powder is similar to cocoa powder and it can be used in numerous recipes where cocoa powder would normally be used, with the advantage that it has no caffeine.
Use suggestions: you can use carob powder as a substitute for cocoa powder one-for-one in your favourite recipes - cakes, biscuits, desserts, smoothies.
